Skynet: The First Blockchain Chip
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way we travel, communicate, think, live. It is reshaping our world, and there’s no stopping it. AI-powered machines are getting more and more intelligent. They are now highly capable to do most things that humans can. Self-driven cars, self-powered street lamps, voice-powered virtual assistants, self-learning applications, computers diagnosing and treating diseases, and prescribing drugs, are starting to invade our world.
What if the Internet of Things (IoT) becomes bigger, greater, more efficient, more powerful, more relevant in today’s world? What if IoT devices are embedded with a blockchain chip?
This is Skynet Core for you, the first blockchain chip developed and optimized specificically for IoT. Why blockchain? Because blockchain will have many uses for IoT. First and foremost, the decentralized nature of blockchain will create a trustless environment to address privacy issues and allow IoT devices to connect freely and safely. At the same time, blockchain will eliminate reliance on 3rd parties and lessen transaction costs along the way. Second, blockchain’s immutability feature will virtually take away any chance for IoT transactions getting hacked, while allowing data sent over to the blockchain to become traceable and accounted for. Third, blockchain will lead the transformation of the usually static IoT devices as exchanges between them will be managed by smart contracts. Not only will this ensure greater security, but will also create a more engaging and vibrant network. Another use for IoT the blockchain technology will have is the ability to adopt cryptocurrencies, and this will be good for the thriving crypto community, as well.
You might say, “haven’t I heard of something like this, before”? Indeed, blockchain technologies are already in use in a great number of platforms, but the older versions are simply not designed for IoT, especially the smaller IoT devices. They do not have enough capability to handle bigger volumes of transactions nor the demands for speedier transaction processing. The previous blockchain technologies, while seemingly successful at first, are no longer responsive to the current needs.
The Skynet Core, though, will be utilizing new blockchain technologies that will ensure better machine performance and user experience. Equipped with advanced cores and state-of-the-art blockchain hardware, Skynet will be able to run its devices over high-performance blockchain networks, while ensuring the security of its cryptocurrencies at
the same time. And it will empower devices to think almost like humans.
This is how the Skynet design will look like:
The design is constructed in the way that will allow greater flexibility and usage of the blockchain chip. A variety of machines and devices (anywhere) will be able to connect to Skynet, and they will be empowered to do tasks in an intelligent manner.
The Skynet Open Network, meanwhile, is especially designed to handle the demands of anarchic scalability, and enable the use of a variety of blockchains, so different IoT devices will not be tied to just a single blockchain, a practice which tends to overload the chain. Skynet will also be made more portable so it can be used in smaller devices, as well. It, too, will be user-friendly for a hassle-free user experience.
While providing the essential infrastructure, Skynet is set to build the necessary applications that will allow the activities to take place. It will connect IoT devices and allow them to interact with one another, while enabling them to maintain their autonomy at the same time. It will also develop applications that will make it easier to manage, track, and audit transactions made over the network.
Fuelling all activities on the Skynetwork is SON, Skynet’s own cryptocurrency. It’s ERC-compliant and has the ability to be swapped over all other tokens on the Skynet platform.
