While that may be true, if a coin's ranking doesn't match up with the activity that is happening on their github repository, one can cry foul. There is at least some transparency to these things...

Look I am not doubting what you say I am just saying it might not be as big an issue as you say. Just because mobsters often run casinos doesn't mean there aren't fair games and that you still can't win money in them from time to time...
