Do you want to play a game?

in #crypto6 years ago

How about a game with a current prize of $9 million worth of crypto?

There is a new cryptocurrency game sweeping the interwebz.

It's called Fomo3D.

The current prize is worth about $9 million USD in the form of Ether, with the possibility of growing much large by the time it pays out.

$9 million USD?!

Now that is a prize pool!

Some specs:

The game is called Fomo3D.

It's a simple yet ingenious concept.

Players have a 24 hour time limit to buy into a pot. The bulk of the pot's value is paid out to the last person who buys into the pot.

Sounds simple enough right?

There is one catch, anytime someone buys into the pot the timer gets extended.

Also, every time someone buys in, the minimum buy-in amount gets increased ever so slightly.

Players can buy in as many times as they want, all at once or trying to time it at the last possible second.

The current pot:

The very first round of Fomo3D began July 8th with no money in the pot.

Currently there are 5 hours left on the pot and the buy-in has risen from pennies to roughly $2.50.

There are close to 35 million buy-ins currently giving the pot an overall value of just under $9 million USD.

Ironically, the only way someone will win is if everyone else stops trying to win.

Let that sink in for a moment.

It's the perfect game.

The other way the game could end is that if the buy-in increased to a point where average people were priced out of the buy-in price.

However, for that to happen the pot would likely have to get into the billions of dollars, which it may.

The first ever 24 hour round has already lasted for over a month.

Keep in mind that none of these has actually paid out yet, and with all things crypto:

Caveat Emptor.

or...

Buyer Beware.

So, what do you say, would you like to play a game?

A game that could potentially change your economic position...

A game that is so simple it's genius...

A game that can only be won when everyone stops trying to win...

There is quite a bit more to it than I just laid out here, but it's worth checking out, even if it is just out of curiosity.

Stay informed my friends.

Enough games are being played in the world of cryptos...Can we just go back to supply and demand...Quit the fast ways..quit the scams!

I read something today from a CEO that said games and gambling/gaming like this one are a possible way crypto gains mass adoption.

Yup, you are right, games are one of the ways for cryptos to become mass adopted, look at crypto kitties, now we just need a better game with more adoption that runs on a blockchain...gaming is a growing market!

I think this game will get tons of press if the pot keeps growing. Could be good for the whole industry.

The numbers of Ether Dapp users in the last 24 hours seem to agree with that CEO. More than half of today's top 10 are categorized as Gambling, Gaming, or High-Risk, with Fomo3D (917 daily users) comfortably sitting in 3rd place on DappRadar. Cryptokitties (216 daily users) is at the 9th spot, while Augur (49 daily users) surprisingly doesn't make better than a 24th position.

Interesting. Thanks for the stats!

When I wrote games @jrcornel I was being a bit sarcastic, what I meant with playing games was manipulation, scams and all the get rich fast options...
I know the gaming industry is leading the way towards mass adoption, and I know that we are still at the very beginning, this is bound to be huge!

Gaming is probably going to be one of the main reasons cryptos become adopted, the gaming industry is a fast growing industry, just look at any Steam market game, just look at the tournaments that award millions to the winners... it's not scams and fast way, gaming makes it so the demand increases! if the demand increases so does the price!

Can’t wait til fomo4d it will be out of this world!

Haha I see what you did there. Clever!

If it walks like a duck and it quack like a duck then its probably a scam.

I am curious to see if this thing actually ever pays out. If it does, round 2 will be even bigger.

Its like a ponzi, they can keep doing it until user inflow keeps going up.

I am not sure what it is, but the money is likely to keep piling up.

Very interesting @jcornel 🧐

Are you playing?

How do you think @jrcornel what will happen next?

I think the pot will keep growing and growing and won't pay out for months, possibly years from now.

It reminds me about that situation when professor sold 10$ for 20$.:))

I'm not familiar, how does it go?

Simple game - experiment with audience. You tell to the audience that you have 20$ and everybody can try to buy this cheaper. But there us the catch - second bettor pays the double amount of the first bettor. It means that if anybody trying to buy 20$ for 10.5$, it means that second place bettor will pay 21$. It leads to the situation when people sometimes pays even more than 20$.

I see. I hadn't heard that before. Thanks for sharing.

Simple but technical

why does it look like a big smart scam

Because if there is a backdoor on it, it is.

It's just testing someone's greed and other ones passion. Just by luck if someone win that will be the most greedy person or may be just a lucky.
I won't ever try that. But it is great concept I guess, I hard this type of concept on a online bidding site.. Thankyou @jrcornel for sharing this game
