Justin Sun just had one of the most expensive lunches in the history of mankind

The CEO and founder of Tron, Justin Sun won an auction last year to have lunch with the legendary investor, Warren Buffett.

The Oracle of Omaha was apparently one expensive lunch date as Sun won the auction with a $4.5 million bid.

Which was the most expensive winning bid ever in the 20 year history of the charity event.

However, Sun wasn't able to consummate his lunch for many months due to health issues and scheduling conflicts between the two.

Finally, Sun dined with the Oracle...

Many started to doubt whether this lunch would ever actually happen due to the delays etc... myself included.

However, now we know that it finally did in late January.

Unfortunately for us, we won't really know exactly what was discussed at the lunch but we do know that Sun mentioned on several occasions that his plan was to convert Mr. Buffett from a bitcoin skeptic a bitcoin believer.

Or at least see that it wasn't some giant scam or "rat poison squared".

Sun got Charlie Lee, founder of the Litecoin Foundation, Chris Lee, the CFO of Huobi, Helen Hai, the head of the Binance Charity Foundation, and Yoni Assia, the CEO of eToro to join him and Mr. Buffett for lunch.

The only tidbit we have gotten so far was this from Sun:

“It was really an honor and I’m grateful for Mr. Buffett’s dinner, wisdom, and vision. I'll always remember his kindness and support, and will take Mr. Buffett’s advice and guidance to make Tron a better ecosystem, business with all the partners in the blockchain space and beyond.“

Pretty much exactly what you might expect one to say after a lunch with the greatest investor in the world.

Though, with Sun, sometimes you never quite know exactly what to expect.

Can an old dog learn new tricks?

I think the best barometer of success will be to watch how Buffett refers to bitcoin and crypto in the media in the months and years to come.

If he continues to be down and call em rat poison, we will know that not much was gained on his part from the meeting with Sun.

If, however, we see a bit of a tone change in how he talks about bitcoin and crypto, we will know that Sun and those that joined in on the lunch may have gotten through to the old Oracle.

Time will tell.

Stay informed my friends.

I often wonder if a lot of Buffett's skepticism is related simply to the fact that he is "of an age" where success revolved around creating tangibles and the idea of something you can't make, see, touch or hold falls outside an older person's reality threshold? Back that up with the bulk of his fortune having been built on basic products and services.

I remember trying to get my elderly aunt in Australia to use a laptop and write email, because it would enable us to stay in touch, but she just couldn't wrap herself around the idea that there was no physical letter that changed hands, and thus rejected the technology.

Finally, the dinner happened! If I've paid that much for food with a celebrity hero, than it'll better be worth it. I also heard that Warren Buffet received his first Bitcoin courtesy of Justin Sun. My congrats to Warren Buffet, maybe he'll enjoy the gains on that Bitcoin come Halving, and I really hope he doesn't lose the password...
