Crypto - Bakkt is about to let you buy Starbucks with Bitcoin!
Bakkt is in the process of creating a consumer app that will let you buy coffee with bitcoin!
In a giant news release from Bakkt, it was revealed that they are in the process of launching a consumer app.
The app will focus on integrating cryptocurrencies at and with key merchants.
The first merchant to be on board with this is none other than the largest coffee chain in the world, Starbucks.
Wow.
Testing is set to being shortly and a launch date for the consumer app is expected to take place at some point within the first half of 2020.

Starbucks is a huge get for Bakkt.
Currently Starbucks is the largest coffee chain in the world with over 30,000 retail locations world wide.
Interestingly enough, I actually thought that number might be even a little larger, but it appears no:

Besides that, Starbucks also fits very well with crypto in another way...
Enter the Millennial...
Crypto is currently dominated by millennials and guess who the main demographic is for Starbucks?
That's right, it's the millennial.
So, we have the largest coffee chain in the world used by the same demographic that also tends to love them some crypto...
Sounds like a perfect fit!

But wait, there's more...
Not only all that but having a partner like Starbucks on board will help recruit other merchants.
Once other businesses see a brand like Starbucks integrating crypto they will likely be quick to follow suit.
If Bakkt keeps integrating other major merchants, Bakkt could end up being the most important development for crypto in years.

I think a few years from now we will look back upon this development as a pivotal moment in crypto adoption.
Sure, give the big boys a chance to vainly say they came up with a novel product that's never been done before. If that is what it takes for mainstream adoption, im onboard

Ha, well it's not so much that, it's that they have the connections and clout to make it a reality, IE Starbucks. There have been tons of third party payment apps that have popped up allowing merchants to instantly convert crypto received to fiat.
Not sure how long you will need to wait for that transaction to be confermed :)
Bakkt has a solution for transfer times. I didn't read far enough into it to understand how they will do it, or if they even made that part public, but I believe they plan on making it as seamless as using a credit card.
