Cryptocurrencies for your IRA?

in #crypto7 years ago

It's not that simple:

There are some products offered by Grayscale like GBTC that offer some exposure to Bitcoin that could be purchased in a self directed IRA.

The downside with buying something like that is the premium that currently exists in the product.

As more and more alternatives come out to invest in cryptocurrencies, that premium is likely to dissipate.

Grayscale is coming out with another fund that will invest in the top 5 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

That one might be the way to go for an IRA investment when it eventually comes out.

If you own an LLC through your self directed ROTH IRA, you can get into crypto through your LLC. You just have to be super careful to make sure everything stays in business accounts... See my post asking the community a question about KYA...
