How To Use EtherDelta, For DummiessteemCreated with Sketch.

Maybe you have heard of those three coins, populous, pillar or veritaseum, that are only available on this exchange, but you don't know do to use the exchange.
Here's a very quick guide on how to use the goddam unintuitive, laggy decentralized exchange:

  1. Create an account
Go to the top menu and click on "Select Account" and then on "New account".

You just created an ethereum wallet on etherdelta. Make sure you save the keys otherwise if you clear the cache on your browser you'll lose the account.
You will receive a message with your public key and private key:

  2. Click on the coin you want to buy on the left side of the site.

  3. Deposit your ETH
This part might be a bit confusing. When you create the ethereum account you should send the ETH funds to the public address provided, however the exchange does not use that ethereum wallet to trade. The site uses a wallet within the exchange, so you need to "deposit" the ETH from your account's wallet to the sites inner wallet. (Very important note: When your crypto assets are in the site, and not on your wallet, you will lose the crypto if you clear your browsers cache!)

  4. Buy your coin
There's two ways to buy the coin, you can either place an order or buy a sell order from the "Order Book". The Order Book can be a bit laggy and some sell orders might be displayed there but not exist anymore, if you click on a sell order you'll get a box where you can enter how much you want to buy or how much you want to spend. You could just place a buy order to buy a possible dip, however be warned you can only enter how much you want to buy not how much you want to spend, which is a bit annoying.

  5. Withdraw the coin.
To withdraw your coins you need to first withdraw your bought coins from the site's inner wallet to your accounts ethereum wallet.

  6. Transfer your coins from your account's ethereum address.
Now you can either login to your wallet with the private key you saved and send the tokens you bought to your main ethereum wallet, OR you can use the transfer option on etherdelta. To do this you go to "Transfer" and enter the amout of the coin you want to transfer and right next to that box you enter the ethereum address the coins will be sent to and click transfer.

And your done, remember that each order, deposit and withdraw costs a regular ethereum transaction fee because etherdelta is a decentralized exchange based on ethereum and everything is done with smart contracts.

That will be all, peace out.

Great post with valuable information for those looking to acquire or sell some of the newest and most popular tokens. Thank You joaol! 🌟

Thanks for this guide. It's perfect!

Would be great if you could highlight the orders in the book for seller and buyers. I think it is the bottom order if red, and the top if green.

There are a remarkably small number of forkdelta tutorials. This definitely helped me make my first buy on there. Much appreciated! Thanks!
