Hi, Steemians.

We have been on a hell of a ride for the past month in the crypto market. Just when things look like they are rebounding, we have another negative story coming out of the woodwork. "Someone is banning this" or "government crackdown on bitcoin" stories cause a lot of FUD. So what i've decided to do is dedicate a daily post to positive news that is going on in the crypto world.

So I present to you the first of many positive daily stories on crypto:

UNICEF has asked gamers to mine and donate Ethereum to help the children of Syria.

If you are unfamiliar with the situation in Syria, for many years now, the country has been embattled in a civil war. Assad, the country's President, has been battling with Rebels, who are trying to overthrow him. During this time, many innocent people have been killed, including children.

So what UNICEF has decided to do is, according to their spokesman, is ask gamers "when participating gamers take a break from their computers or go to sleep, they can turn on UNICEF’s Ethereum mining program, thus donating without giving away anything but access to their computer’s processing power."

They also have stated the following:

“Through the use of mining we create an opportunity for those who can not give or have never had the opportunity to do so.”

What a great cause! There are so many people that are struggling and we forget how many are children. Whether it is right at home or in a different country, caught up in a war they are not fighting, so many are hurting and needing of help. I truly hope that this cause will raise a ton of awareness, as well as a ton of Ether. Over 900 ether has already been mined and donated to the cause!

Let's keep it going!

More positivity. More helping others. We are all in this together.

That is some great news. With the proliferation of things like gofundme and the like I think that there is definitely a place in the market for crypto-mining based causes such as this. It feels a lot like the old SETI and cancer projects from years ago that used your computers down time to parse data for those projects. Thanks for sharing this article. I like your thinking on trying to bring something positive daily from the crypto world. -@bozz

This is great. Exactly what we need more of positive thinking and looking on the bright side. To easy to just be down about crypto great idea to post about the positive. I look forward to hearing more positive talk

I'm so happy to hear this.. I thought they are winning the war against crypto.. What we need is positive and hearing good needs concerning it.. Thanks for the update

What a great idea @jgullinese. I just finished reading another post about everything that's getting worse and going wrong with Steemit so it's nice to read something positive.

Since South Korea's ban, Davos, the 500m hack, India's ban and banks banning cryptocurrencies purchases on credit cards we are seeing a sharp correction in cryptos. But how long the global government will be able to push down the price? Maybe only a ban of Japan and China could send the price down 20 or 30 percent. This correction could be a chance to buy cryptos.
