I am talking from personal experience,i have signed up with almost all the exchanges,but truth be told i find it had to use most of them.
The existing exchanges are so challenging to use by existing crypto guys and mostly to newbies. I have a big bunch of guys who ask me of how to convert crypto to fiat and i have found difficulty showing them how it's done!
This in the end makes entrance to crypto hard and hence hindering massive adoption!
2. Security
I guess you have all heard of the recent exchange hacks in the industry and they are among the issues causing the price decline at the moment. The Crypto haters capitalize on this hacks t spread FUD!
This negative security news is read by potential investors and they get discouraged as they think their money will also be lost in the next hacks!
3.Fees Fees
This is one of the biggest challenges with the existing exchanges,the fees are fixed by the in individuals
The percentages are always high and affect low income crypto traders.
4. Number of Cryptos
There are a big number of exchanges that have a few coins or to be particular have only Btc! This means that to transfer may be BCH to fiat,you have to first convert BCH to BTC and then to cash....why not BCH to cash direct???
The challenges above and many others i have not listed hinder massive adoption f crypto.

In summary smart contracts help execute transactions securely and transparently without the need of a middleman! You should be knowing how middlemen take a lot of our money in form of fees!
I am doing my best to explain smart contracts because it is the distinct advantage StreamDesk has over other P2P Exchanges.

At the moment of sale the сrурtосurrеnсу is locked in a smart-contract. As the buyer's fiat is transfered to the сrурtо-seller, smart-contract is unlocked and сrурtосurrеnсу is sent the buyer's account. If the buyer does not transfer the money in a specified period of time, the сrурtосurrеnсу will be returned to the seller.
This will avoid the trust issue between the buyer and seller whereby the non of the two wants to send either the fist or crypto first!
