RE: AMD and Nvidia won’t talk about crypto-currency mining… and that’s a worry for gamers

in #crypto7 years ago

Good read mate, but I respectfully disagree. I dont see how the mining specific cards will affect the release of new gaming or work station GPU's come next year.

They will be released to test the market, and next year you will just have the same release schedule of the next series of cards from both AMD and Nvidia. Even though crypto has had a massive spike lately, small scale GPU mining is not worth it anymore unless you are mining certain alt coins where the difficulty level is low and subsequently the value of the currency you are mining is also low.

Even some alt coin like Siacoin are implementing ASIC which means GPU mining is no longer viable. I wouldn't stress about it if I were you. Nvidia and AMD will be on schedule for their next gaming GPU releases. That is the market they have been servicing for years and years, and I cannot imagine they would ditch that entirely just to accommodate a very small percentage of a highly volatile market. Would be a horrible business decision.
