The city of Denver, Colorado (USA), was the scene of #ETHDenver Hackathon, one of the biggest events associated with the development of blockchain #technology focused on the #Ethereum network. After being created by Vitalik Buterin, this hackathon is gaining more and more followers worldwide.

According to data provided through social networks, 132 people participated in the hackathon, which lasted 36 hours. The event was held at the Sports Castle in Denver, on Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18.

The participants enjoyed a series of activities associated with the development of applications of blockchain technology beyond the environment of #cryptoactives. Thus, projects associated with the storage of identity data, creation of alternative blockchains to encourage the fight against drug trafficking and to help blood donation were some of the ideas born in the heat of the event.

The ETHDenver Hackathon awarded several projects developed during the event. Thus, according to the official ETHDevnver Twitter account, the teams Elkrem, Cache, Phoenix Feel Good, KeySplit, Profiler, Kubernetes and Blockstreet were awarded. Among his initiatives, those of a humanitarian nature, such as those related to the fight against drugs and blood donations, stood out. The winner was Elkrem, with a board connected to the Ethereum network.

Special mention for Amemtum, who developed the "RefugeID" project, which gives refugees access to digital identities in the Ethereum blockchain. This project represents an important effort to make this delicate migratory situation more dignified, so that those who are forced to be refugees can count on their identity data in an inviolable and decentralized registry.

Zokoo Wilcox, founder of Zerocoin, which in turn is responsible for the Zcash protocol, used his account on the Twitter social network to celebrate the success of this event, ensuring that the attendees got a lot out of it and that there were promising results .

Linda Xie, recognized in the ecosystem for having been part of Coinbase and carrying out the Scalar Capital project, said that it was a wonderful experience to have been a judge at the event and highlighted the interest of the participants in the ERC721 tokens, which unlike the ERC20, they are not divisible.

"ETHDenver is welcoming those who want to support and build the decentralized future. The hackathon is an opportunity to work hand in hand with the developers, the thought leaders, the advisors and the companies that are creating the infrastructure and applications that will boost the future ", reads the official website of the event.

This edition was attended by important people from the ecosystem such as Joseph Lubin (founder of ConsenSys and co-founder of Ethereum), Erik Voorhees (founder and CEO of Shapeshift) and David Knott (developer of Ethereum Foundation). In addition, he received the sponsorship of 0x Protocol, ConsenSys and Toshi, among others.

This type of events is of paramount importance for the ecosystem, as they are spaces where the growth and evolution of blockchain technology is promoted, called to be one of the new global trends. For example, the popular game of "collectible cats", CryptoKitties, was born from a similar event, and although at first it was a scarcely noticeable event, with the passage of time the importance of the project has been left notice in the crypto community.
