There is nothing galling and annoying than you watching your favourite video on YouTube or reading an interesting article and some irrelevant ads just popped up your way. Sometimes, you just want to relax and watch or read an article without touching your mouse or press the escape key on your keyboard to close these uninvited ads on your monitor. But yet, they still will not go. You absolutely have no control over them especially with giant networks like Google and Facebook. I would confess that I barely visit or purchase an item using ads. So companies that own such products would be running at lost if users like me crowd the internet without visiting their products via their ads. Also, the advertising company goes through a third-party (publisher) service that in turn charges a fee to put up the advertisements on their platform. The advertising party (company) on the other hand does not have easy access to publishers that can reach their audiences. They also have little or no control as the type of audience their ads are being accessible to.

The Publisher’s problem:


Publishers also have issue with their advertising agency (those who have the ad-space). These agencies controls the ad-space allocated to publishers. For example, the famous Linda Ikeji’s blog in Nigeria has to request ad-space from BlogSpot and wordpress before she can add some ads on her blog.

Problem of the Giants corporations:


Another problem arises when Corporations such as Alphabet (Google) and Facebook controls a large portion of the ads market. This means they can fix price and set conditions that benefit them the most rather than all parties involved. This leads to a marketplace which is unbalanced and takes advantage of publishers as well as users since there is no much competition. Without alternatives, these corporations can continue to charge a large commission, while retaining control over the distribution of ads since there are no many corporations like them to challenge in the ads market.

This is done as users give credible and detailed information about themselves and what they want to buy.
