Sports Betting Cryptocurrency | PortfoliosteemCreated with Sketch.

in #crypto7 years ago (edited)

I am starting a weekly news post around what is happening in sports betting crypto.

To keep track of how each one of the blockchain projects are doing I will make a fictional portfolio and track of the prices each week. This portfolio should give a good reference point also compared to bitcoin. Sports Betting on a blockchain is still in an early stage but has the potential to be huge with multiple players on the market.

The current price crash should be an excellent opportunity to start. I will put a fictional 1.000$ on each of the 5 current betting / prediction market projects. Augur | Gnosis | Wagerr | Stox | Peerplays and will see how to add new projects once they are available.

Week 0 (04/09/2017)

Augur3021.87$45.7251000$+0.00%
Gnosis43149.32$6.6971000$+0.00%
Stox1280.7216$1.385,811000$+0.00%
PeerPlays1524.42$226.241000$+0.00%

Bitcoin14293.72$1.1655000$+0.00%

Do you think they will outperform Bitcoin and which one will do best ?

Disappointed in peerplays they not following through with all the dates they set to release all their apps seems like they really far behind

I'm really looking forward what bookie.exchange will be able to do, it is suppoed to launch Q4 2017.
100% focus on sports betting and nice branding so far. You don't need ppy tokens to bet there for as far as I understand.

The one that I like most is Stox, I like the plan to market and how expect to gain customers. Apparently the Augur's beta was not very successful.

But overall my biggest concern and it also regards prediction markets is that they need an insane amount of users to provide accurate prices and shorten the bid-ask and I don't see really enough benefits for the average user to change platforms, the same way Betfair Exchange was going to revolutionize the betting industry and now... I don't see even enough benefits against Betfair Exchange!!

I mean just the hassle enough to buy cryptocurrencies and then deal with their volatility, the blockchain technology must provide really huge benefits and I just don't see it in the in the betting industry

I tried the stox alpha and current augur platform and don't get it. Nobody is waiting for 'prediction markets'. Some bookmakers offer this but it represents not even a tiny part of the market. It's the reason I like Wagerr and bookie.exchange a lot more. They focus on sports betting and have the potential to he huge. There are sport bettors and sport betting syndicates on the asian market who bet huge amounts and are obsessed with getting the best price in a safe environent. Also the illegal market right now is huge and bookies sometimes need to even out their books. if a blockchain could offer 1.98-1.98 it would be a total game changer.

that makes a lot of sense!! After all, people don't want to bet about the weather or stuff like that... sounds more like a grandiose theoretical idea than a practical application

yet in what I have read in all these projects, they all intend to apply some fee to the bets made in the platform, so would not that reduce their advantages?

And the other thing I am afraid of is the inherent volatility of kryptocurrencies... if your token loses 10% of its value overnight, that takes away your edge. That's why I like Stox; at least they have a plan to avoid high volatility (which by the way I'm not so sure will work)

The fees go to the people who help secure the network. in Wagerr 50% of the fee will go to the master oracles who settle the bets and make sure the results are entered correctly.

As for volatility, bookie.exchange will allow to place bets in bitcoin, litecoin, ... they use the peerplays network which charges a fee that will go to ppy token holders.
Wagerr burns 50% of the fees which should make the value increase over time as less and less are available.

I heard today a shady story on stox that they had 50% of the coins first with a 50% discount before the ICO. still have to read up on it though.

Imagine a blockchain with 0% fees and 2.00-2.00 100% lines that would be crazy

sure they will not outperform price of bitcoin but in terms of growth its possible.
my bet is Augur. Did you put 1$ or 1000$? :)

I adjusted to post thanks. I was not sure how . and , is used in english.

My hopes are still on Wagerr, I still have a lot of looking in to do on the other projects.

sure yours hopes are on wagger because its will be jackpot for you, because you have a lot of them ;D

This is just a fictional Portfolio, I do got a bit of wagerr coins myself though. The others I haven't invested in. (gambled on)

is there any popular tag for betting/gambling btw?

I use betting / gambling don't know any others. Football / soccer maybe also an idea

Probably stox gonna be most disappointing because its all about mayweather's hype
