FUD

"FUD" stands for fear, uncertainty, and doubt. We are often confronted with seeming or actual intelligent individuals, and too many will push their thoughts, unfounded or not, and too many then will "go along" out of fear or confusion, lacking the tools to challenge or push back.

A friend sent me an article to get my opinion. It definitely got a reaction from me. Here's the article.

Here's my response.

That is an academic paper, for sure, and I'm not certain the point. It wants to hyper-focus on mass adoption drivers? It wants to claim that blockchain can't scale to world adoption? The author may have had more credibility 1-2 years ago, but he's pretty far off the mark now, only 8 months from publishing. A small bit of faith in human ingenuity, and a tiny bit of patience would have seen this through. It is certainly understandable, though, his stance and reaction. However, new concepts such as Tangle and atomic swaps are already changing the game. Creativity in the industry is meeting the need, and is literally only lagging by months. It turns out that humans are crazy smart.

Unfortunately, the posts at the bottom of this article are antagonistic to Bitcoin and are either incorrect or missing the point. I've been studying blockchain since June now, and it is my obsession. The world will never be the same again. For the first time in human history, a person can truly "own" something that no one can take unless the person gives it up. That concept right there is so difficult to grasp, but so powerful, that most people don't get it at all. I'd love to talk more. Blockchain and cryptocurrency have expanded my thoughts from the existential to geo-political, spanning the purpose of government to the meaning of currency, and we're only getting started.
