Not Exactly Sure Who Google And Facebook Think They're Dealing With - They're Not Snubbing Crypto, End Of Story

in #crypto7 years ago (edited)

Google is imminently banning Crypto-Advertising and Facebook has already enacted it, literally not allowing you to promote posts that even CONTAIN the words 'blockhcain' or 'cryptocurrency'.... to show just how true this is, let me point out that a post about my two educational blockchain conferences Boston Crypto Con and NH Crypto Con were completely blocked, even after clarification via appeal. MORE FRIGHTENINGLY, my share of a steemit post literally just pointing out that Facebook is blocking Crypto-Advertising was completely blocked even after appeal. They are literally stopping the narrative at the door. It is full barring of promotion about Crypto/Blockchain. Google, now, is following suit, claiming they are trying to protect consumers.

I'm not sure if it is a PR move or if the goal is to ensure that they can delay the full takeover until they are ready to position themselves securely in the movement. I imagine the latter; I think that both companies are planning to make a big move into Blockchain and potentially show big support for an existing token/system, with the bans being used as tools to slow progress for other innovators, as well as keep crypto cheap in the short-term so that they have freedom of movement within the sector, financially speaking. I think that these two Behemoth's are unintentionally highlighting the power of the movement though, as it is showing, as banks have already begun to do, that Blockchain/Crypto will literally flip the ENTIRE FINTECH INDUSTRY on its head, like a master Judoka, with patience and ease. The movement has just begun and by participating here, you are literally one of the movement's parents because, as they say, it takes a village to raise a child. We are that village and you are my neighbor.

Sure, they're huge companies. Sure, they have billions and billions of dollars. They have great influence, yes. But, their devoted following is NOTHING LIKE the Crypto Faithful. The tenacity, the follow-through, the championing, and the activism that is taking place in this movement is truly breathtaking. It is a revolution and one that is held truly dear in the hearts of many. It is a new day in Technology and people see that and want to take part. It's a powerfully-charged political movement at this point and one that incentivizes in the form of financial compensation and promises of a fairer system on the horizon. That marriage is a recipe for change and that change won't be easily stopped. Additionally, this is more incentive for the mass Facebook Exodus for Steemit or other Blockchain Alternatives!

AS ALWAYS, WISHES OF WEALTH AND HEALTH FOR ALL! :)

One must ask, if Google believes that these ads are harmful, why Google will continue to carry them for an additional three months. Would the interests of Google and of the public not be better served by banning them immediately?

very good question, and as mentioned above, it doesn't make sense to just target crypto because they see it as harmful; their are millions of other programs (many more than in crypto since it is a much more matured market) related to the stock market, real estate, etc. that are complete scams.

Blockchain is a great threat and direct competition to these tech giants. Imagine a decentralised platform where the author gets paid of their content without sharing anything with these tech giants. They are the one who will be out of business.

Personally, I feel its a right move even tho not-too-right.

With the advent of crypto, a lot of people have become involved with the trend. And a lot of people have been scammed by one alt coin or the other.

So Facebook or google serving as a promotional means might get involved in a lawsuit if something goes wrong.

Imagine paying for a $1 advert and been sued to the tune of billions of dollars. I think prevention is ultimately better than cure.

Cryptocurrency should have a way of promoting its own thing. Cuz it is very volatile, has its up and downs and not really for everybody especially for the weak minds.

But I also hear they (Facebook) is planning on introducing its own crypto coin.
Maybe that's a way of stopping others before theirs arrive.

But however, its a good move.
Makes both parties (those on the platform and the owners of the platform) safe.

Thanks for sharing @biddle.

I appreciate the input. Only problem though is it is a ridiculous notion that they should be liable for lawsuits. How can they be if they've never been liable for lawsuits regarding HYIP Scams about the stock market, 'fibonacci pattern' seminars, 'the secret to penny stock trading', 'THIS penny stock you've never heard about it going to skyrocket', 'the secrets of...<insert anything regarding stock market, real estate, or finances', etc.? This is a solely crypto-focused attack, which is dumb because it isn't as if there aren't many many many many other opportunities for people to throw their money away if they don't do their due diligence. It all comes down to the fact that people should have the right to choose and companies should have the right to a fair possibility of success, and major companies barring the promotion of crypto-related products in an attempt to block the bullshit is biased against crypto, because they aren't blocking the bullshit in every other sector.

So when do we get a block chain engine search to compete with Google?

Yeah, or one that is at least fully pro-crypto!

I am totally agree with you..Google and facebook are not for crypto holeders. They can't help crypto holders. Stimit is very helpful for crypto.
Google and facebook is very Selfish...@biddle

I appreciate your passion - and I share your feelings. While a part of me is excited about decentralized and uncensored freedom - I am a trader first, and cryptos are a tool for making money by speculating on price changes - the same as silver and gold, or shares in Google.
Unfounded government controls on trading markets is not new. And the results will be predictable.
For now, direct personal partnerships with people who have an audience- will be the best asset.

This is why I use duck duck go intead of google search.

They are trying to ban themselves.

I noticed I haven't seen any ads of Ty Lopez trying to sell me useless bitcoin advice.Look at the bright side . ha ha

lol he was the worst. literally pure bandwagon. haha

Well I am not sure if they will ever find a way to stop crypto or Blockchain in any way possible ;)
