Good News: Coincheck to Repay Hack Victims’ XEM Balances at 81 U.S. Cents EachsteemCreated with Sketch.

One of the powerful Japanese cryptocurrency exchange (coincheckup) has announced that it intention to credit account of 260,000 customers that lost XEM in last attack/hack, but at the rate of $0.81 per XEM. Right now, XEM is trading for $0.89 in major exchanges, it has fairly recovered from the dip since last attack. This announcement was made amid concerns expressed by Japanese FSA that it is not certain if coincheck have enough fund to conduct this reimbursement.

Recall: more than 500 million NEM belonging to 260,000 customers was illicitly transferred from coincheck custody, on 26th of this month.

So users will get equivalent of $0.81 in JPY (Japanese currency) in their wallet. This will be calculated based on average weight turnover.

If the reimbursement occur now, customers will only lose 9% of their NEM based on current price of $0.89 on coinmarket.com.

Though the exact date for reinbursment has not been announced. Be hopeful guys!
