Cryptocurrency MUST be airdropped...steemCreated with Sketch.

in #crypto6 years ago (edited)

Since my last post about one of my favorite coins (DeepOnion) many of my friends expressed concern about the fact cryptocurrency I've described airdropping most part of total supply, instead of doing an ICO, I did a little research and noticed that there are really a big number of people who don't trust project doing airdrops.
I'm totally disagree, ICO-s is a good idea for startups, offering other services for their tokens (ex. dividends from future income or access to developed products), but I think real cryptocurrency must be airdropped.

Let me explain my point of view

I think main purpose of the crypto currency is the liberation from the current financial system in which the developed and developing countries are practically dependent on banks (they make us need them even if we don't), in the other hand in undeveloped countries people have no chances to get necessary assistance, even if they are talented and hardworking. enough. The only ones who wins is banks, government and corporation, riches get richer...

Privacy, anonymity, no need for trust - this problems are more or less solved. Of course there is always room for development, but, currently, this is the main problem cryptocurrencty need solve first of all to reach it's goal and airdrop is right solution. Тo succeed cryptocurrency must be distributed to as much people as possible, to prevent feature centralization. People who contribute to the project must be on the first place, but not those who contribute a good amount of fiat to founders.

Airdrop means scam? WTF?

ICO for launching a new cryptocurrency is a scam! OK, just ask yourself why they need money if they are going to create their own? Maybe they don't believe in their project enough?
Some will say that money needed to launch the protocol before the coin will get a value (oh, sh*t). If you have vision, if you believe in it, if it's good enough you will find a support of a community, there is no need for hiring anyone.
I even saw a whitepaper, where they mentioned they need money for a marketing campaign - airdrop is the best marketing campaign.
I'm sure no one needs millions or even hundreds of thousand dollars for they are collecting during ICO. If the idea is good enough there will always be contributors, who will help you not for fiat, but for crypto you are building developers, miners, bloggers, everyone you'll need to build a successful project, and we're getting back to airdrop :)

Airdrop coins won't moon? I don't think so.

Yes, there will always be dumpers, but in the end only those who really believed in project will stay and that will grant a real value to the currency. But if you're doing an ICO, you're the first who dumps the coin.

ICO will bring you some money, airdrop will create a community.
In your opinion which is more important?

P.S. In some measure even BTC was airdropped ;)

Really cool view on AirDrop coins. I think it complements my own article: "Could successful AirDrops have more potential than outsold ICOs?"
I didn't bring up the aspect of decentralization in regards to AirDrops but that is a good point as well. I think we pretty much come to the same conclusions from different starting points which is very interesting.
I like the way you write, like your having a discussion with the reader and look forward to more of your work. Upvoted!

Nice article again and congrats on your 'Upvote Award'!

nice article. airdrops imo are better than pre-sale events in my opinion, it gets the community involved to want to be apart of it
