I purchased bitcoin on coinbase yesterday around 11am, it has now been >24 hrs and no confirmation signal in my wallet.. I had a similar plan to diversify my portfolio with some alt coin.

Ya and coinbase hasnt mentioned any issues they having today... not very customer friendly... mine is still pending and im not very happy...
I just wanted to give you an update. I just received the bitcoin in my wallet. It could be complete coincidence but the amount was not transferred into my wallet, I clicked on my dashboard, then went to recent activity, clicked the transaction, and then clicked "view transaction". After I clicked the link it brought me to the block cypher page explaining the details of the transaction. About 1 minute after I went to this page, my transaction when through. Like I was saying earlier, this may be complete coincidence, but its worth a try..
