Well, It was finally time to take that leap of faith. I ordered my first bitcoin backed credit card. What was really interesting to see was the fact that almost every single major crypto coin can be used in this wallet, it has a built in Shapeshift function which allows for every coin to be transferred ( at the cost of a small fee) to this card, where it is turned into bitcoin. Once the card Is loaded. It spot sells the bitcoin and loads your card like you would any pre paid master card!

Ordering your Physical Or Virtual Cards
All of the Virtual cards can be ordered at no cost, it is only the physical cards which will cost you. Although they are lining up to accept Paypal and Bank transfers, currently you can only order a card using BTC. This isnt a huge deal for us as we are really excited about becoming a part of the future of Bitcoin and other Crypto currencies by supporting and using the products of companies who are making such great headway in bringing this technology to the average consumer platforms.

Can anyone explain what documents would be required to have the Verified card exactly?
1 each, for ID and proof of address, or what?
yes exactly. It is a VIsa and as such, they require the same documentation any VISA carrier would require. Prooff of address and ID!
Do you know if they can provide US citizens a plastic card or is it virtual only?

@hilarski Somehow I am not surprised. It was the same with Spectrocoin, Cryptopay, Unquid, etc., etc. Any card not named Shift or Bitpay seems to be a no-go here in the US.
I have hopes for OneBit, but it's not due out until the end of the month

Great, We will do the same thing and share about our experiences with both the Shift and the Ecoin cards. Glad you figured it out, seems they have made it so difficult on US citizens.
@thearcanebear I am in the midst of preparing to go unbanked for a period of time for a piece I am writing. My original thought was it should be relatively easy to do that, considering I have some crypto and the plethora of prepaid debit cards available should have made that easy. Unfortunately, easy does not exist in the world of US regulators. At any rate, once my Shift card arrives, I am set to start my experiment in unbanking. Should be an interesting experience.
Oh, That sounds like a wonderful experiment. Yeah, over the last few years the US has made it increasingly difficult to move outside the system. We will order a Shift card and review it as well. We are really glad to hear there is at least a single option for you....... There was a bank in Panama, when I remember their name I will repost in here. I have to look through all my notes and take a look.
You know, I am not entirely sure about this, If you sign up, I am sure one of their customer representatives can help you find out easily. It doesnt cost anything to receive the virtual card, so once you are signed up, there is no risk in having an account and asking the question. Although, when you do find out, we would love to hear about your experience as well.
I just looked up what the card looked like (I am a nerd, I know) and it looks better than the Shift card (new design which I wanted the older one).

The Wirex (Ecoin) card is really good but not without issues. We have had to go through customer service 3 times since September with issues. They said they have updated the system and most problems will be remedied quicker. The best use is POS (Point of Sale) sometimes it won't work at an ATM. I won't go into specifics but I do not recommend making it your only card. Have a backup.
