Considering how much emphasis people seem to put on anonymity as a potential benefit of blockchain use. It would seem unlikely that prevention of money laundering will be a benefit claimed by the technology.

Money laundering isn't fundamentally a crime. It just means you're making it hard for the busybodies to snoop. That's why I like CryptoNote coins like Monero and Bipcoin.
