    So do you have to have 1 ETH ($1416.49) or can we have say $100 worth and still receive the 1:1 ratio?

    U need to have ETC that is Ethereum classic and not ETH... ETC is way cheaper and you will get 1:1 for what you hold...example 0.5 if you have 0.5 ETC

    Interesting. As hard forks are usually pretty obvious improvements in one way or another in comparison to its source material...

    I wonder if any of the popular cryptocurrencies' forks which completely replaced the original?

    True HardForks generally bring improvements... yes that is really interesting question even I dont recollect hard fork coins replacing the original ones... need to search on this one
