This is the best run BitShares project I have seen. It has a very high potential to bring thousands and thousands of users to our ecosysytem. Disclaimer: I am a big and enthusiastic investor in OPENPOS (because I believe in its game-changing potential).

I really like what i see here. I believe these ideas have extreme strength if they focus on B2B market segments. Monetary transfers between companies in agriculture, construction, mining are often slow and costly due to the multi-national footprints of the majority of these companies. Focusing on B2B can provide real savings to individual industries, committed customers that have a reason to buy in, and provides proof of concept down the road to roll out to more retail driven business.
I've been following this project since the beginning. I have talked to local merchants willing to give it a try when the stand alone POS app is released.
I sound a bit biased when it comes to QR vs NFC. Just fyi, I do understand that most merchants are upgrading to NFC and our libraries support NFC yes, but I prefer QR codes personally, because of the security advantages. Many merchants are upgrading to tablet based systems which of course display QR codes nicely. Either way, we support them both right from the getgo.
What about Steem Dollars?
All of the POS systems support UIA's as well, I should have mentioned that. I think at some point we might even be able to support additional blockchains... :)
Steem Dollars is not a UIA, though, and it's not on the BitShares blockchain... It could be added via a gateway (with counterparty risk), but I don't think anyone is doing that yet.
