What is Ethereum Classic Worth? 70% Less. Crypto Valuation and Scenario Analysis

Great article @eeks! I love your example scenarios and can't wait for some great discussions in this post! (what's up with all different bots lately)

I look forward to them, too. We'll see what shakes out and what we get to learn.

wow amazing

That's typically the response that valuation analysis gets.

Excellent post. Detailed and articulate. I disagree with some of the probability calculations, but they are fair.

It's unfortunate to see the Ethereum community splintering. I know ETC will always survive driven by miners and purists, but we need to rally around ETH. It's an awesome platform that has even wider possibilities than Bitcoin.

I still believe ETC is going to crash in the coming days and stabilise at around 0.001. But the propaganda is getting out of hand, so who knows?

The division hurts everyone imo. An ETCer who went all ETC, can now swap back into ETH and have tripled their ETH stake or more and be on the chain that has price, hashing, and network effect dominance. Seems rational to do that but we'll see. People are emotional.

The entire thing has been brought around by fearmongering, FUD basically. People have panicked into division. The fear is of course spread by a greedy few who saw the opportunity for free money - probably rallied by the DAO attacker to begin with. Sadly, it has gone mainstream. I just hope it stabilizes at the 0.001 price and ETH can gain back its support.

Wow great article, all these possibilities have my brain boiling!

Great analysis! Are you a professional analyst? It will be nice if you can post some quality analysis about steemit in the future.

That will be coming for sure. And yes I am. Probably spent too much time on this and I phone edited last night and messed up about 40% of it and now can't fix. :(

Aw, I feel your pain. I'm so nitpicky, it's probably a good thing that the post locks, or I'd never move on.

NOTE this version got corrupted in a phone edit and I can't fix it. Much of the analysis is missing including critically the price discussion and core parts of the research.

I have reposted this analysis with the lost content, edits, and updates since yesterday. Please check out the new version, which is the canonical version, and the one I stand behind. I take my work very seriously and it's most important to me to get things right, especially when I spent a day's work on them. Thanks for your understanding and I encourage you to read the newer version as it has a ton of content that is not featured here. This one ends up being a little nonsensical.

Eeks Does an ETC Valuation

Great post, just figured out how to follow as I keep landing on your posts anyhow. Keep doing what your doing, I like the way you write and what you're writing on. :)

At the end of the day such a long explanation 'why it should be worth "shit"', just proves why it should'n / so useless.
2c

I don't really follow because you aren't clear and your sentence has some punctuation typos. Not sure what you are trying to say? I gathered as much info as I could and I took a stab at analyzing it. What would you have done differently?

Excellent analysis. I am blown away by your understanding of this stuff and ability to explain it in a way that a layman like me can understand (for the most part).

Please correct me if I am wrong but it sounds like you are more bullish about Steem, Steemit and Steem Power than you are about ETC or ETH. I tend to agree.

I own a little ETH and have been waiting and watching and thinking about moving it into STEEM, which I would then convert to Steem Power. I am wondering if now is a good time to act as STEEM is relatively cheap right now and ETH (though it has come down from its recent price around $14) is holding a fair value in comparison to what I bought it at. I see this ETC thing mucking things up for ETH in the short term.

In my opinion, the biggest advantage that ETH has over ETC is the backing of the Ethereum Foundation.

Thanks again for the interesting read. Upvoted for what it's worth.

I own both. They all have their merits. Steem is the newest and probably the least safe but I've both bought Steem with BTC and earned Steem in the last 2 weeks and have been spending efforts to make the ecosystem as good as it can be. Take that for what it's worth. I'll be doing a Steem valuation in the future.

I have seen you around and appreciate your efforts. I look forward to your future analysis.

I had a lot of faith in Ethereum but this DAO debacle has made me question it's longevity. The hard fork without consensus has lead to a competing currency. Now there are rumours of the Dao hack being an inside job and today there's whispers of an organized effort to 51% attack the Classic chain. I'm out.

Rumors of an inside job? Any evidence? I don't analyze based on rumors unfortunately. It's not profitable.
