Big announcement from iExec, partnership with Flixxo to create "decentralized Youtube"
iExec partners with Flixxo
This is an interesting partnership as this puts iExec as a provider of computation for Flixxo. This is how the RLC token gains value. Video requires computation for processing and while I do not know very much about Flixxo, as a holder of RLC I see this as news worthy.
iExec is a decentralized cloud. The RLC token offers a stake in that decentralized cloud. The only way to buy computation resources from the iExec decentralized cloud is using RLC, and RLC is payment for computation on iExec. By May 2018 the iExec network is supposed to be operational where anyone can sell computation resources. Because iExec is essentially the first of it's kind, I expect there to be many partnerships coming.
If anyone holds Flixxo and has understanding of what it will do and how please share.

So maybe access to / ownership of cloud resources, AI, and so on are like owning land with coal, oil or metals in the past.
I am a holder of RLC, and this kind of news is the sort of news to make me double down on buying it. It's all supply and demand. The more I see partnerships which indicate incoming demand, the more I seek to buy the RLC token.
I'm looking forward to December 2017 (when they release the app store) and May 2018 when they release v2. Here's the current roadmap:
I'm curious about the initial apps and how many tokens you need e.g. per resource.
The token is cheap for what they offer and I believe they will deliver.
What apps will be in the store? Why isn't any Steem developers working with them? like DTube or anyone else?
Since they build the market-place blockchain around XtremWeb-HEP my guess is they can use any existing application which was created by companies or organizations, e.g. SETI@Home or Folding@home.
I haven't found applications build by the iExec team... maybe the first applications are related to the ones mentioned above.
I'm not sure if they build a "mining" app or if someone from the community has to do it. I'm also not sure if they would allow apps that serve personal interests rather then maybe scientific computations benefiting everyone.

Actually yes that all seems possible. Maybe we should try to organize Steem developers to connect to XtremeWeb-HEP aka iExec? The SDK is out there.

For now they control the computation, but mining apps can be built even now, and once RLC is in place it will be very interesting. Maybe that RLC will be redeemable for mining power?
Looks like it's just a matter of time until mining apps are running on iExec:
"focus will be on establishing partnerships with infrastructure providers, such as smaller Cloud providers, individuals and miners interested in renting their server farms, mining rigs or home servers."

If they achieve everything they plan every RLC holder doesn't need to worry about their retirement if they hold the token as an investment.
