Is NEO (Formerly Known As Antshares) an Ethereum Killer?

As this space in blockchain development grows, the previous technologies are being trumped by newer and better ones on a constant basis. However, it's not about which is better, it's more about which will hit critical mass and successfully stay there.

The First of It's Kind in China

Antshares (now known as NEO) is China's first open-source blockchain platform, and the new name comes from Greek Mythology and means youth and novelty. The ANS symbol will subsequently be changed to NEO soon, but in the meantime the Antshares Dev team are working on new clients and a UI for the revamped brand.

Big Meetings in Asia

This week (the week of July 24th, 2017) NEO has organised a meeting at Microsoft headquarters in Beijing which was attended by 200 representative from various organisations. The meeting was to talk about NEO's big announcement of its rebranding and renewed, innovative Blockchain developmental plans.

The companies on board with Antshares' new architecture and vision include:

  • Microsoft
  • Innospace
  • Agrello
  • CoinDash
  • Binance

The Secret Sauce

Smart Contracts 2.0

Erik Zhang, core developer of NEO, introduced the Smart Contracts 2.0 framework to the audience and explained the major differences between NEO and Ethereum. Ethereum uses its own Virtual Machine and language called Solidity for programming, whereas NEO supports all programming languages via a compiler, including those on Microsoft.net, Java, Kotlin, Go and Python. By allowing this, common programming languages can be used on its platform, which should attract a vast community of developers.

The Nest Fund

NEO will have, what they call, the Nest Fund, a project similar to Ethereum’s The DAO, which will have a white paper released on it soon. The Nest Fund will make improvements on its shortcomings and will be released after being audited by a worldwide peer review.

Antshares' Performance Thus Far

Since inception, Anshares' performance has been astonishing!

Thoughts/Questions

  • Do you think NEO can really take Ethereum's place?
  • Is EOS an even better solution over NEO?
  • Do you own any NEO/Antshares' today?

I wasn't aware they can do that in NEO ( smart contracts 2.0 ). Solidity can be a bit of a hurdle, so if NEO accepts any prog language that could really be a game changer.

Oh yeah I agree. I think EOS has the same idea. I guess will see who comes out on top between NEO and EOS however NEO has a headstart as EOS is literally just a concept ATM.

Exactly! NEO does have the advantage. Scalability is now the question, @cryptoblood do you know how NEO plans to tackle the Scalability issue bro?

I have not done that much due diligence but plan to.

This is an awesome article. I do have a few bucks in NEO and this is good news
will try to add more on my stack. Thanks bro

I do not man. I wish I wouldve known about this project at inception because i wouldve jumped on it immediately!

I think Antshares/NEO is a sure bet to go up greatly in the medium-term. In the long term it might face competition by newer, more advanced crypto technologies but it might find enough of a base to retain value.

You really think it will blow up brother?

Its promising but i think i like EOSs approach better. Plus the CTO is none other than @dan with the masterplan. Lol

I think EOS will be great too, but NEO is farther along and closer to implementation I think. In the long run EOS might overtake NEO but that would still be some ways off.

I was thinking about buying some EOS too, I just grabbed a few ANS

Great article. Resteemed and upvoted. Go ANS.. I mean NEO!

Lmao thanks!!

I bought ANS/NEO, oh say, a month or so ago. It's a Clif Call too.

You takin Secret Sauce from PPT?

Dig the YT vids.

Sold my PPT but thinking about buying back in

Solid blog. Interesting to see I'm not the only one that is thinking about this. No matter how populair a coin is. People should always do a proper background check. It surprises me how many coins are out there that don't have their basics right. I was wondering if anyone of you uses: https://www.coincheckup.com This site did all the research for you. It's truly amazing. Go to: https://www.coincheckup.com/coins/Neo#analysis To see the: Neo Investment research.
