As I've discussed before, the ICO market is heating up but are we nearing a peak in it's popularity? Floyd "Money" Mayweather has made a move in the space and it's in an ICO called Stox.

The ICO Market is Heating Up

The ICO market is up over 13 times this year vs last year in 2016 and the year isn't even over! One has to wonder are we nearing a top in the ICO space. With the SEC ruling coming down earlier this week, we are now seeing that the regulatory agencies sure think this might be the case.

"The Money Team"

Floyd Mayweather is known widely for is impeccable boxing career. With 49 career wins, and 0 losses he is by far the highest grossing boxing athlete thus far - bringing in nearly $700 million dollars in his entire career. Mayweather will be fighting Conor McGregor on August 26th which will gross the both of them roughly 100 million dollars each!

Stox ICO

The ICO that Mayweather mentioned a few days ago via social media was a company called Stox. This company is predictive market betting open sourced platform, built on the Bancor framework that will allow every day people will be able to predict and trade the outcome of events in almost any imaginable category: Finance, sports, politics and even the weather.

Not Too Much of An Original Idea

Though competition is a sign of validating an idea, Stox concept is truly a copy of platforms like Augur and Gnosis which ICO'd two years ago and earlier this year respectively. The only edge seen so far would be a celebrity endorsement, and maybe that will be enough.

Question / Thoughts

  • Do you think that Floyd Mayweather really knows about ICOs or was paid to advertise this company?
  • Our we in an ICO bubble?
  • Is Stox unique enough to be a contender in this predictive betting arena?

This is the first ive seen someone talk about this. I personally don't believe that he knows about the company and I think he was paid. I don't believe it is an ico bubble but I believe that people are not looking enough into ico before they invest.

Agree totally with you!

I made a similar post on this. I like the idea of a crypto prediction market and to pay Floyd to promote your ICO is a huge statement. Good outlining, upvoted!
