I agree. Ethereum is a platform that future 'greatness' can (and already is!) being built upon.
The only concern I have is that there is Ethereum 'Classic' as well as Ethereum. Unlike Bitcoin (that has a ka-jillion forks now and probably even more coming...) part of the lure of Ethereum is its integrity as a robust platform. But if it continues to fork as it already has once, it'll be market-perceived as weakness (or faults) in the overall Ethereum platform.
I agree, BTC is doing better and seems to be continuing. But every time a fork is created in BTC (E.g. BCH, BTG etc.); it adds market confusion. Forks are more tolerable for Bitcoin because really; it is just a currency, whereas Ethereum is a platform with which other things are built on it (and yes, the currency 'Ether' is one of those many things). I worry that too many forks in Ethereum will weaken it because of the perceived issues it'd cause to other currencies and innovations that are built on the Ethereum platform.
All the more reason for people to get into the cryptos sooner then later. If they grab the crypto now, if/when it forks they will have both the old and new coin/token and will be in a break-even or better position every time. But yes I agree forks are not that great for those who are late to the game, as they can cause a lot of confusion and complexities for newbies in the space.
