Crypto Spotlight: Theta
It is tough to figure out which of the alt-coins to invest in, and it is also extremely important to select the correct ones. There are literally hundreds of new cryptocurrencies as well as older rivals to bitcoin that are poised to possibly overtake the crypto king. After careful consideration, I have decided that only a small handful of these offerings will succeed anywhere close to people's hopes and expectations of them. Therefore, it is important to do as much research as you can into the various cryptos and call on all of your powers of wit, discernment, and intuition to discover which ones have the most potential to join the burgeoning blockchain pantheon. Do your own research.
The power of the alt-coins is in what usefulness they can provide in the real world. Bitcoin is the highest valued cryptocurrency only because it was the first legal alternative fiat currency, and because it is currently so well known. More people know the term bitcoin than know the terms blockchain, crypto, or alt-coin. But the slow, brutish, no longer decentralized leader of digital currencies is on it's way out, and you can tell by how other cryptos are gaining in market value. Two of the biggest recent gainers that I have noticed are neo and bitcoin cash, which make a lot of sense for the hype of neo in the asian market and how much technically better bitcoin cash is than bitcoin.
Theta has actually not been gaining on bitcoin. In fact it has been losing ground. A lot of it. Check out this graph which is the price of theta in relation to the price of bitcoin. It has plummeted by around 50% in the past month.
That is good news for investors, because as the hype may be low for theta, it's potential is enormous. As an alt-coin, you should be asking yourself, "what is this token going to provide for the world that will make it invaluable?" Well, theta has a rather good one. They aim to be the decentralized solution for video streaming and bandwidth sharing. This will attack head on the problems that so many people have with trying to watch video online and not having enough bandwidth to do so.
The deal closer IMO is the advisory board for theta: it's a who's who list of digital giants: Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube; Justin Kan, co-founder of Twitch; and Dennis Fong, among others, who founded Plays.tv and was the first esports celebrity. And with the price dropping (it's around 10 cents down from more than 20 cents a token) it's a great opportunity to get in while it's cheap!
