How to verify cryptocurrency transactions?

in #crypt5 years ago (edited)

Have you ever made a cryptocurrency transaction only to find that the coins have not yet appeared in the receiving wallet? Perhaps you’ve purchased something online with bitcoin, but you’re still awaiting confirmation. If you want to know the status of such transactions right away, you can use what’s called a blockchain explorer.

Blockchain explorers are tools that let you view any transactions in real time. They are web addresses you can visit and use, and fortunately, they are overall very user-friendly. Blockchain Explorer, for example, lets you simply paste the receiving address into the search bar. This leads directly to the status page where you can verify that the transaction went through, and the right amount is going to the right address.

Additionally to Blockchain Explorer, there’s a multitude of other blockchain explorers you can use to track and verify transactions. Some of the most popular ones are Ethereum’s own explorer, BitShareScan, and STEEM. Even though they all slightly differ in user interface design, they perform essentially the same purpose — verifying your transactions.

Final note: Keep in mind there are different blockchain explorers for different altcoins and their protocols, so you will need to choose your blockchain explorer accordingly.
