The Croatian Police In Force...the delicate hand of the tactics used by them during eviction proceedings on behalf of Banks in Croatia

There are so many wonderful images of Croatia promoted all around the world, but underlying that is a real need to bring to the worlds attention the extent that the bankers, legal system and supporting agencies will go, to repossessing real estate. In others words, these people are unable to pay their mortgages, due to high unemployment rates, or took mortgages when the Swiss went to bed with banks here.

Zivi Zid,(http://www.zivizid.hr) a relatively new political party in Croatia, has very outspoken members of parliament, who are at the front line of these repossessions. Standing side by side, being arrested and showing to the population that the reality is far different to what is shown on the mainstream news, which is mainly owned by the state. People are losing their homes, despite many of them who were on the front lines during the Balkans conflict in the early 90's. Many are elderly, or vulnerable, and are really unable to barely feed themselves.

Unfortunately it does not stop there, as the government is struggling to defend itself in the biggest scandal in Croatian commercial history, the failing collapse of the single biggest employer Agrokor. It employs some 50,000 people in Croatia, has debts in the billions, yes billions of euros, and has subsidiaries across the Balkans. The company headed by the richest man in Croatia, was blessed with mass acquisitions in the post war era, and somehow managed to get it all for cheap. Now the producers, staff and whole supply chain has not been paid from anything from 3-6 months.

The Government has previously been well known for its old school back hander tactics, there is no doubt it is riddled with corruption at all levels. They are protecting themselves and their friends with immunity, yet the humble man, who is really in need of help is being beaten and forcibly removed from their homes. This exhibition of police abuses and what is clearly an excessive use of force for peaceful protest, or protection of basic rights, a roof over the head.

This is the image many more need to see, please bring this to others attention whilst they consider Croatia as the ideal holiday destination!
