The STEEM brand.

When I was doing business in college, the way that we always looked at a brand was how would you sell there product to a friend. What picture comes to mind when you have to describe it.

Now @crimsonclad felt the way to go was by describing STEEM as "a turnkey blockchain for sharing", which is fine amongst the intellectuals and the people here right now but I just don't feel that it will speak to the other 99% of people going forward.

If i was in the pub with my friends trying to tell the story of STEEM they would be looking at me like the drink had taken me out of my senses. It would be past their comprehension or interests.

The brand is the image that you associate with something.
When you think of cars you think of BMW. Sleek, stylish, flashy.
You might think of Subaru. Fast, powerful, reliable or even Ferrari which is expensive, exclusive and a status symbol.

For me STEEM doesn't need a brand as STEEM isn't the product. It's the eco-system. It's the roads beneath the different cars. It's what allows them to travel and bring people with them. STEEM power is the fuel. The more you have the further you can travel. The more powerful vehicle you can drive. The different apps are the products. Each with different features and recognizable features that make them unique. They all drive on the same road but Ferrari's are build for a different purpose to people carriers.

I think that in the future people will use @actifit, earning STEEM and then using their phone to pay for sports goods with STEEM. They will never come near this site or blog but instead use a few of the apps to accumulate STEEM and SMT's in a wallet and be able to spent them in real time. I think that blogging will still be a part of the system but will be more among the more established community rather than the masses.

So if I was to introduce people to the STEEM blockchain it would be as an eco-system for a new wave of apps. Apps that reward the users rather than the corporations. Instead of using Instagram and letting the board of directors earn billions you can now earn for the value that you add to the site.

We are a value added eco-system. The more value that you put in then the more rewards that you will receive.

There are of course multiple way to add value through blogging, gaming, posting, investing etc...

Personally the community is a big source of that value as they are the ones adding most of the road right now. People like @crimsonclad do so much for so many people that we have a unique selling point. We have a group of people driven to improve the system and make everything run smoother and more efficiently. People developing and creating. This is the tar that holds the roads together but ultimately most people in the future will never see it. They will just be looking at the destination and not how the roads were build. The materials, work, sweat and hardship that will go into laying each and every inch of those roads. They will just hop into there vehicle of choice and head straight to their destination.

So I would be branding each and every app that comes out on the blockchain and let people know what choices they can browse through. If they want to play @steemmonsters which is exciting, fun and addictive.
Use @partiko which is sleek, responsive and informative.
Use @actifit to motivate, track and energize. And whatever apps we have in the future of which i'm sure there will be many more.

This is all a bit pre-mature since the road isn't build yet and we are not ready for all that traffic but this is how I see STEEM and how i would introduce others to it as well. Right now you are still trying to attract the builders and developers which is fine but out of my comfort zone so I decided to look at where I would be joining into the system. Where I could try and add more value.

To be fair, you've actually completely nailed my point, and well done you, because you raise some other great ones!

When I suggested "Steem is a turnkey blockchain, made for sharing," it was only a jumping off point — however you use Steem, it's ready for you, and it will let you share... almost anything, as any type of user! In the video, I did suggest taking that idea and refining it to apply to the apps, dapps, and projects that you love. Make something fun or informative about them! You already know what you like, so spot on:

Play @steemmonsters which is exciting, fun and addictive.
Use @partiko which is sleek, responsive and informative.
Use @actifit to motivate, track and energize.

...each of these are powered by Steem, and each of them has their own brand that the creators are building that inherently strengthens the brand story of Steem itself. Users of dapps and projects sharing their interests, talking about the stuff they love, or making a little something something are all doing a small but important part to change the public perception. Each awesome new app built on Steem starts telling its own story, each member of the community tells the one that matters most to them, we start talking about Steem far and away from Steemit Inc, and it all comes back to underlining that the Steem blockchain is the common denominator helping share great things.

^ This is truly the "automagic" dream. Nailed it!

And this is still only the beginning of the journey. In the past year we have seen so much value added to the blockchain and in the past few months I have seen even more to come. This bear market could be a blessing in disguise as it has forced us all to re group and re think what we are trying to do here. Not only that but it has totally changed a lot of peoples position in the eco-system and shown who is here for the long haul. The people willing to put in the graft and believe in what we do here.

That's a fantastic analogy. We're getting some pretty good cars to travel this steemit road too. I'm looking forward to all the opportunities coming up.

It's been a good few months on that score. I was here this time last year when prices were rocketing and all you had was a blogging site. Since then the road is being built and proper infrastructure is appearing. I always tell people that this is only the start of the road. It will be 3 to 5 years down the line before things are established in any proper way.
