So Colorado officially legalized weed in January 2014 after Amendment 64 was passed by voters on November 6, 2012.

We decided to take a trip to the Centennial State. It was in the middle of winter in January 2014 on a snowy weekend and we drove for hours all the way from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

It was me, Jason, Mike, and Jeff all crammed in a car on an 18hr car trip with just a a few stops to eat and use the "salle de bain".

After getting in Denver, we already knew where we were headed. We already scoped out the shops through word of mouth from friends close to the border or what others were saying online. We hit up Sacred Weed right away, then went to our hotel, smoked up and then went straight to McDonalds to eat.

It was then time for Denver to show us around, we decided to go to a Latin dance club called, "La Rumba", it was great other than the bloody moment a guy got bottled in the head. It was my first time seeing that other than in the UK, where this Chav in trainers thought he was hot at the pub and got knocked out cold by way of a bottle.

After the wild night meeting a few ladies, and hanging out with them later. One girl, called Melissa decided to invite myself and Jason out again because she said she had a super cute friends to do a double date with.

So the next night we go out with Melissa and Josefina, they were both beautiful women and we excited to get to know them. They told us to meet them pretty late at night in an area called, Five Points.

Now anyone living in Denver knows what is about to happen next....

So it is 11pm and we are so called going to be "bar hopping", they texted us their address. Jason and I immediately left. We pulled up, and they waived us over, we hopped out the car and immediately went to them. They were standing next to some dark alleyway. We came over and asked them where they want to take us. After we came over these five guys just rushed out of nowhere and demanded us to "empty them pockets!". We both were in shock at a situation where we both had guns in our faces.

We got taken for about $700 US in total and the dudes ran off after letting the girls run off first.

We definitely had a taste of Denver then.

Immediately after that both Melissa and Josefina's phones were disconnected. Burners of course and we once again learnt a valuable lessen. You have to watch out for the set-up and reasons as to why a female would want to see you late at night.

MORAL OF THE STORY: They knew we were out of town, they knew we had cash because I bought Melissa a few drinks the night before and they knew we were easy bait.

We are just lucky and thankful we didn't lose our lives that night. And ohh, BTW, the weed was pretty good.
