The high interest rates charged for the use of credit cards serve as a trap for people who are trying to get out of debt. You actually end up paying twice for the goods services, or merchandise.
I have set a goal of two years to pay down all of my credit cards now that the interest rate is astronomically high. When you go to a cash system, it makes you think twice before spending money whereas when you are using a credit card it offers a false sense of security.
