Where do I seek for creative ideas? And where do you do it?:)

Hi, guys!:)

Today morning I want to talk a bit about my sources of inspiration, and I will be really happy if in the comments below you will tell me something about how you do it.

I think every artist has his personal "magic box" where creative ideas come from. In the beginning of our career it's mostly copying other artists artworks, but then slowly personal style appears, and personal ideas come to life. Sometimes it's a quite stressful process, artists tend to be really critical to hemselves, but sometimes it also happens natural.

As for me, creativity is a "muscle"  as any other muscle of our body. And it needs periodical loads to function normally. That's why sometimes even if I have no mood to draw at all I anyway try to do some sketches from imagination, just to keep myself in a good shape. So, where I get my creative ideas?

  • From my goodnight time. When I go to bed and lie there in the dark my brain starts giving me different ideas that I can fulfill tomorrow if I'll remember them. So it happened he other night, and I hope I'll be able to show what came to me till the end of this day. I really love the idea, but I still need to see if it'll work, it's a kind of quest:)
  • Artbooks. Looking through them, collecting ideas in my head, blending them together. And then all of a sudden from this mix inside my head something new appears, and I already can fix it on paper/my tablet.
  • Books and movies. Wen I read my imagination works especially actively. And of course later, if I catch the shape inside me, I also can depict it. Or at least try to depict it.

How about you, guys? Where your creativity lives?

I wish you all the best and will be happy if you'll support me with vote:)

Love, Inber

Sort:

I usually see some art someone else has done and it triggers an idea in my own mind - sometimes the idea will be similar to what that artist did or something entirely different, but was still triggered from seeing their art.

Then other times I guess I just have random things pop into my head, I don't really know where they come from! lol

The same happens with me, both of it:)

My inspiration comes very often from :

  • a specific season or event of the year such as christmas, easter, winter, autumn, birthdays, ...
  • Or someone expresses a wish
  • Or sending some nice homemade greeting cards
  • And for the moment my biggest inspiration is STEEMIT CONTESTS. I participate to many of them, and very often I create something new and I try new techniques and I go out of my comfort zone, I love these contests (and if I win something, this is of course the cherry on the cake :-D)

And to come back on collaboration (in @plushzilla's comment) here how I contribute :

  • For almost all my creative realizations I provide the step-by-step processes so that others can learn from what I do and/or give me feedback/advice/suggestions...
  • I create the weekly ongoing contest lists to help the artists community to not miss any contest (for those who are interested of course :-)) PS : I just released the new list

Thank you a lot for the list, I will check out the ones I could take part in!:)

Sometimes after meditation or yoga... really... and it works ;-)

Big hug

I know that it works for a lot of people, great to know you're one of them:)

@inber - getting to know other Steemians and having conversations with them! They are a constant source of inspiration and motivation, but curiously I don't find there to be as much collaboration as I thought there might be...

I think part of it is you just have to know where to look, as far as collaboration goes. Of course, I am referring to things like dailysketch and art explosion - daily or weekly contests. But maybe that isn't exactly what you mean by collaboration?

@allstarrunner - that's definitely one form of collaboration, in which one person provides opportunity for other people showcase their talent. But I think with such a diverse range of talented people (some of whom are multi-talented in different creative endeavours) I was hoping for collaborations that would help create some interesting splicing of genres or ideas... maybe like a narrative for polyglots illustrated by our wonderful artists here, or even a theme or concepts illustrated in different mediums (music, painting, poetry, infographic, animation, etc.)?

Give it a few time, in fact there are a lot of collabs going on here:)

I really like this current style with the splashing of colour cracking!
