Fashionable to be "smart": Topical smart clothes

in #creativity7 years ago

Surely, many of us used to imagine "smart" clothes like the hero of the movie "Back to the Future" Marti - shoes that are laced themselves, or a jacket that instantly takes the dimensions of the owner's body and has a drying regime. The reality, of course, is slightly different, but not too striking. However, the near future may present many more options.

Within the project, special threads were developed. This is a special fiber, the threads of which are capable of carrying a signal. The fabric is assembled in the same grid as the conductive layer under the touch screens of the gadgets. As a result, it can track the touch, performing the same functions as the touchpad. On the surface of the tissue can be "svaypat" and "tapat." And the fabric "feels" in which direction the finger is being drawn, and depending on this, a corresponding signal is transmitted to the smartphone (or any other connected device). So you can turn the music on / off, adjust the volume of the headphones, ask the smartphone about the direction in which to move, answer the call, and so on.

Conductive threads developed by the Jacquard project are made from a combination of metal alloys with natural and synthetic yarns (silk, cotton and polyester). They are durable and flexible, you can make clothes from them practically on any industrial loom. From the traditional thread "jacquard" can hardly be distinguished. It seems that this is just a strong, thick denim fabric. Google believes that Jacquard can become the basis of a new direction - "Wearable Technology".
