How do I become a good blog writer??

Blog Writing is easy.

But it can be difficult in the beginning.
People say write long blog posts. Fine. But that doesn't mean you write long sentences.

Blogging Art 1: The words and lines

I purposely chose to write this answer in a certain way. If you haven't noticed yet, all above lines are less than 11 words. That's probably why you are still reading carefully.

Blog writing is about understanding what people want to read.
When people surf the web, their attention span is low (because they are not reading a novel or technical manual).
Writing for web is about telling your reader early what she wants. Or getting into her head and making her read the next line.

I believe that a good blog writer is also a decent psychologist. He will consider not just what his readers want to read, but also what will make him *crave* to read the rest of the article.

You must be careful to not show that you are trying to do this though. Just write naturally what you know about. Then edit it to remove wordiness. Make do with "In short", instead of "What I mean to say is". Mix up sentence lengths, but more short sentences. Write a few one - two word sentences too. Like this. Try it. It's fun!

Blogging Art 2: A sense of design

What people first see is visual appeal of ANYTHING. If your blog is clean and easy to navigate, people will stay. Otherwise there are gazillion other webpages to surf. And trillions of blogs waiting to be read.

Your success as a blogger will depend upon 4 major things and design is important. I'll get to the other 2 now.

Blogging Art 3: You're the expert

You have to choose a topic which is specific. Instead of choosing a blog on wedding, choose "bride dresses". Instead of choosing to write on travelling, choose "biking". Of course you will move towards travelling later (in this example), but establish your expertise in a sub-niche first.

Blogging Art 4: Media

I refer to both: Social media as well as "media" files on your blog.
Use good pictures with each article. Use infographics for statistics if possible.
Embed a relevant video if you can.

Other media is social media. Share your blog not only in blog directories, but with friends, and everyone you meet. This includes real life as well as social media sharing. Including the share buttons on your blog and encourage people to share if they like your work.

Lastly, learn basic SEO tips to make your blog internet friendly. Honestly, if you stick to all the above points, you will require very little SEO application to your blog.
