Creative Street goes to Sta Mesa: Paper Quilling and Gift Giving
Creative Street's 5th Art Workshop + Gift Giving
A Special Season
It has been exactly six months since Creative Street stepped into reality and taught the children of Manila the basics of art, coloring and shading. From then, many volunteers and donors have shared their skills, talents and blessings to many children in and outside Metro Manila.
Creative Street has conducted workshops at Rizal Park's premises such as Orchidarium, Japanese Garden and Senior Citizen's Garden, at Tagaytay City, Cavite and Sto.Tomas, Batangas. Each workshop, the number of our students are more than 25. The most number of students we had was more than 50. That was at Sto. Thomas, Batangas held at a family garage. This experience really taught us to that we can really share and teach everywhere.
This coming December, we want to extend another moment with our chosen beneficiary, Laura Vicuña Foundation, Inc. With the help of our fellow Steemians especially @adollaraday and some group and bodies here in the Philippines - KissEd Insider and a secret donor/ company, we will also conduct gift giving and feeding program.
Paper Quilling
On this workshop we will make Christmas and Holiday Season Cards with a twist. The designs that we are going to make are from Paper Quills.
What is Paper Quilling?
"Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and otherwise manipulated to create shapes which make up designs to decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewelry, mobiles etc. Quilling starts with rolling a strip of paper into a coil and then pinching the coil into shapes that can be glued together. There are advanced techniques and different sized paper that are used to create 3D miniatures, abstract art, and quilled flowers among many things. " - source
Materials
The materials on this project are just the following:
Cardboards
Colored Paper Strips
Glue
Sticks
Though the materials are simple, the process is quite delicate and complex. But with the help of our Creatives, we hope to cater and teach the kids well.
