Decorative Drink Covers
The last time that I used my leather drink cover, a friend asked me where I bought it. When I told her that I made it myself, she asked if I would make her one. I make a lot of things out of excess material and supplies that I already own. I try to use up things that I may have originally purchased for something else. In the drink cover that my friend saw, I used some rivets that I had bought when I was thinking of making myself a leather belt.
Those particular rivets were not inexpensive, and I don’t have a bunch. I looked around my house to see what else I had to spare so that I could make my friend a drink cover too.
I had some snakeskin that I was also going to use to cover a belt. I made myself a template to use so that I can make more than one.
For example, I have been invited to a barbecue that is outside around my friends’ swimming pool. I already know that once this particular friend sees my drink cover, that she will also want one as well. I need a way to quickly and cheaply make a few to give as gifts.
Today I pulled out some of my excess leather, snakeskin, and other supplies to see what I could come up with for drink covers.
I made one but I am not satisfied because the snakeskin is too flimsy by itself. I may have to use some of my other heavy duty leather.
I’ll keep working on it until I get a durable product that is easy to make. I also want to use some of the beads that I have laying around.
Have a great day!
