Hearts of Thunder
I watched men falling, like the setting sun
forged steel into battle, that no-one won
wiped sweat from my brow and blood from my skin
Hoping that one day heaven will let me come in.
Restless and weary the minds and the eyes
of the souls that are drowning in battle raged cries
but willing and able these eager young hands
that fight for their freedom their pride and their lands
The rain and the wind, they lick my skin
And I,
I am praying that I'm home again
Where grasslands and homelands welcome their tired and weak
bequeath them a serving of the peace that they seek.
Drink wine to the fallen and beer to the slain
Tomorrow we'll march into battle again.
