Project model railway #5
Since the grass glue needs to be completely dry I switched to some other related work:
The required materials are straightforward. We need 1) trucks 2) LEDs (2 per truck).
And of course standard tools like screw drivers, glue etc.
I went for the LEDs from Viessmann since they offer a range of colors (I took the warm-white ones) with already build in resistors and diodes.
The first step is to disassemble the truck. Most models with higher quality are easy to take apart by simply removing the screws underneath.
Any interior has also to be removed.
Now I am able to reach the back of the headlights.
Just make sure the LEDs shine through properly before glueing them inside.
When glueing the LEDs take care that the interior fits inside again. If not, just cut them a little gap. Due to their little size they fit in almost every vehicle.
The glue should be clear after getting hard, so the light is not getting dulled.
The downside of the clear glue is that the LEDs shine through the bottom gaps of the drivers cab. Since I want to avoid the look of underbody lights I filled the gaps with some glue and black paint.
I also put some guys inside. Unfortunately I had to remove the bigger one because he didn't fit inside due to his hat :(
The last step is putting everything back together. I lead the wires to the back where I will drill a small hole into the ground to power the LEDs from underneath. This way the wires almost won't be visible.
That's all for now, I hope I'll see you in my next post.
If you want to see the project grow and the final result, don't forget to follow and you if have any questions, ask right away in the comments :)
