HardForked 2: The love Triangle Continues
A blast from the past, some of you may remember the awesome initiative @comedyopenmic if not it was a community based on creating funny content via a weekly contest that handed out many rewards to many partiicpants.
My entry to COM Rd. 33 was titled Hard Forked : A love Triangle which poked fun at the then newly implemented HardFork 20. This piece of satire, HardForked 2: The love Triangle Continues, is a follow up to that story. The orinal in its entirety will be posted first and the Part 2 will follow directly after in this same topic.

HF19 and Steemit meet at a very young age. HF19 wasn't Steemit's first love but he may of been her best. They had many good times together and shared the love with their children spreading post rewards to the authors and curators alike. They were such a strong couple with plenty of Voting Power and Bandwidth to go around. Then came the new kid on the block, The ol so cool HF20.
HF19 could see Steemit's eyes wondering when-ever HF20 passed by. There was even a brief moment when Steemit went missing for a few hours in mid September and HF19 suspected Steemit had run off with HF20.
HF19 didn't know it at the time but that is exactly what Steemit did. Luckily for HF19 he still had some friends on his side and they talked Steemit into returning to HF19 and their love for each other was rekindled.
HF19 and Steemit's new rekindled love didn't last long as Steemit's eyes started to wonder again. HF20 just looked so cool. He had all the MANA a girl could ask for and just look at that RC ..... How could HF19 compete with that.
It was only a mere week or two before Steemit left HF19 again and this time for good. HF20 was a jealous boyfriend and made Steemit throw away all of HF19 things that was left behind from their relationship.
Voting Power ... trashed .... use my Mana said HF20. ..... Bandwidth ... who needs that .... Use my Resource Credits said HF20. We give too much to our children, HF20 Said, " From now on we take some rewards back during the first 15 minutes of post creation ".
Soon Steemit was unrecognizable as its children began fighting among themselves. WE WANT HF19 Back ..... Stop taking our rewards ... We Can't Post ....... WTF is MANA .... this went on for days until things began to settle down and acceptance was attained. Feelings were hurt and enemies made but for better or worse HF20 is here to stay .... at least until Steemit's eyes start wondering again.

Steemit isn't known to be a faithful one. Even though Hardfork 20 had given her plenty of MANA and all the RC she could ever ask for, Steemit grew tired of her new love and it wasn't long before her new neighbor caught her wondering eye, HardFork 21 was his name.
As soon as she seen hardfork21 Steemit knew he was the one. She wasted no time leaving hardfork20 and having him join the long list of hardforks she has piled up over the years.
Steemit didn't leave empty handed, She decided she would keep all hardfork20's RC and together with Hardfork21 they decided to change things up a bit. Instead of giving her children 75% of the rewards they earned Hardfork21 decided to give them just 50% and hand the other 50% to visitors.
There was some grumbling about this change but eventually it was widely accepted by the masses of Children Steemit had acquired via her hardforking.

It wasn't long before the love between Hardfork21 and Steemit created little monsters called #NEWSTEEM. Don't be tricked by its appearance, New Steem may look kind and fuzzy but mess with it and it will remove (some may even say steal) your rewards away in a hurry.
Some of Steemits children viewed this as a great change, others despised this new movement. Down With Bots , We're protecting the rewards pool ...... are just some of the famous lines these NEW STEEM characters liked to spout but do they themselves follow their own rules? I will let you be the judge of that.
Steemits children have never been more divided. Some decided enough was enough and they decided it was time to move out in search for greener pastures (taking all their investment money with them).
All these Hardforks coming and going as they please has took a toll on Steemits children as they watch their over all wealth drop 20 fold since they lost their beloved hardfork 19. With Steemits age how many more hardforks can she handle? She isn't no spring chicken anymore ..... will anyone want her by the time she gets things right or will Steemit always be plagued with issues?
Only time will tell .......

Disclaimer : It's rumored that Steemit regrets her decision and if you listen closely you can hear her whales late at night muttering for HF19 to return.

I wouldn't have thought it, but I'm actually benefiting from HF21/22 now. (My understanding is that HF22 happened shortly after HF21's chaos ensued.)
There are people who weren't curating before who have been forced to curate now. I am one of the people they curate, so whereas my only highlight of my blog was the fortnightly curie upvotes (for my writing), I'm now getting a lot more support.
Unfortunately, with the price of Steem continuing to plummet (along with the other blockchains, I have to note), it's still not a healthy situation.
One of the points of HF21 (I thought) was to try to bring in new accounts for the simple purpose of curating... so far, I don't see that happening. Without a better strategy for bringing in new consumers, it's still going to sell everyone short.
I believe one of the factors of the price dropping is the lack of user retention and new steem isn't helping that. I like the concept of #newsteem but not how its been implemented.
Its great to hear that the hardforks have increased the interaction your blog gets.
Lack of user retentino is one of the biggest threats to the platform. Why do they leave? Because they can't even get started... RCs ruined that. Sure, if someone notices and delegates some steempower, then maybe... but if they're not noticed?
Or the fact that our votes appear to be useless/meaningless?
I first hit 0.02 SBD upvote when I hit 80 SP. I'm now at 1500 SP (net) and still at 0.02 (on a good day.) I hit 0.04 briefly about a year ago - just before I became a minnow.
R.C. was a horrible addition to the blockchain. The higher ups at Steem(it) need to realize that people aren't going to come here and pay for things they can do for free on dozens of other sites.
Hardforked should be renamed in hardfucked! 😄
