Ha ha what a great post. It is nice to see that we no longer have to scour the Internet for hours and hours finding ourselves with some crazy cat pictures. I like it a lot that's we have an ever increasing for righty of posts over here on steem. I also hope that this keeps increasing over the coming few months
It's what you call a trail. Users can decide to automatically upvote items posted by a certain Steemian. I get a few of those daily. I signed up myself for a trail as well (that means my "leader" can upvote and me and several others will do so as well.

Nah you don't have to pay. You just use it to join someone's steem trial. Mind you, if you do that does not necessarily mean you end up on someone elses trail. In the beginning i was just handing out random votes without actually gaining any myself
