HOW To make your own head-in-a-jar illusion.
This is not my prank/idea but inspired by others.
Photo editing software
Large jar 5 litre glass jar at local hardware store for $15.
Food coloring
Computer printer
Paper lamination (local print/copy store)

Using a photo editor, blend together two pictures to create flat image of a head, which is then laminated and submerged in a jar.
Fill the jar about halfway with water, use a mix of yellow, orange, and green liquid food dye tine the water to resemble a preserving solution. Just like in the vintage science fiction movies.
When the flattened image is inserted into the curved jar, along with the jar topped off with water it gives the illusion of a decapitated head in a jar of preserving fluid.
The head in a jar can be photographed for an avatar or placed inside the fridge to prank hungry foragers. 
Add a few hard boiled eggs to the head jar for fun.
This is so friggin cool! I'm totally doing this and leaving it for my housekeeper to find. Wish I had a fridge cam.
