How To Use cPanel

If you're a webmaster who's recently bought hosting and a domain and wants to create a site, this is the perfect guide for you as long as you have cPanel included in your hosting. So, what is cPanel? Well, the name gives it away really ~ It's a control panel. Like the one you have in your PC if it's Windows, but it's for your website not your computer. It's Linux based, however that doesn't matter. There are about 6 main features which are the ones you will use mostly.

File Manager: File manager is like explorer for Windows, you can move your files around, create new files, create new folders and edit your files (If they're html/any code)

Email Accounts: When you have a domain in most cases your hosting (mostly premium hosting) will allow you to have a domain name(s) and this is the screen you will see. It's pretty simple you just create your account and these are the details you will enter into a third party client such as ThunderBird.

MySQL: The MySQL section will be used for scripts and such, a lot of scripts will create databases on their own but if you're installing a script and it asks you to manually create a database just go to cPanel > MySQL Databases where you will see this screen. This is partially the screen you will see, to create a database use the first box but to create a user there wil lbe another box that will prompt you and then for scripts all you have to do is add the user to the database.

Backups: Backups are very important, a lot of hosts can do this automatically for a fee but to manually backup your site all you need to do is go to the backups section and click " download full website backup". Download the file and you'll be able to restore your website if it ever corrupts.
