Eight cows killed by lightning in Kampong Thom

A terrible lightning yesterday struck a herd of cows in Kampong Thom province, killing 8 of them immediately. Prasat Balaing district police chief, Colonel Sorm Savath, said the incident occurred during the heavy rain along with strong wind and lightning.

“The cows were sheltering from the rain under the tree which is about 500 meters from resident’s houses when the lightning hit them”, Col Savath said. He added that fortunately, the lightning did not cause harm to any of the residents or their houses.

Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has recently warned the people of lightning and strong gales as the country is going past the last stage of its dry season.
