Close To Lockdown - Community Quarantine
Our city is under Community Quarantine which is just a step away from total lockdown. Under community quarantine people are urged to stay home and only go out to buy food and/or medicines, do work related activities, go to the hospital or take out the garbage. All classes at all levels are suspended as are all religious activities. Although under this set-up government offices are not suspended so with private companies. Social distancing is required as well, meaning in public, a distance of 1 meter or 3 feet should be maintained between persons. There will be no stoppage of public transportation like buses, jeepneys and taxis.
I had to go to SM Ecoland, one of the many malls here in the city, earlier tonight to do some last minute bills payment for my internet connection before all businesses except food and drug related ones are also suspended. To my dismay the internet provider's offices were closed due to the Corona Virus.
As I was leaving I took some pictures of the lobby of the mall.
It looked surreal with all that space and just a handful of people. Brought back memories of a Charles Heston movie "The Omega Man" incidentally about a post-apocalyptic science fiction film about a lone survivor of a global pandemic. A more recent movie of the same scenario is that of Will Smith's "I Am Legend".
The second floor looked just as lonely and abandoned as the lobby.
If this is Community Quarantine, I wonder what a total lockdown will look like for this mall. Under lockdown, no public transportation will be allowed to operate, malls will be closed except for supermarkets and drugstores, no one allowed to enter or leave the city, and all those in the streets will be questioned as to why they are not at home. I guess we will just have to imagine how this mall will look like under a lockdown as I don't think I will be able to take a picture of it.
All for now. Thanks for visiting. At least you didn't have to leave home to do so. Stay safe, maintain social distancing, drink lots of Vitamin C and get more morning sun for your Vitamin D.
