Covid 19 - Omicron variant and future of the world

in #covid3 years ago (edited)

Today I woke up to this terrifying news of a new more dangerous, vaccine defying variant of covid called the Omicron. I used the word terrifying because I live in Bengaluru most of the time, during the second wave of previous variants, it was very difficult for me to find the news of youngster friends and friends of friends death news every other day. Death toll was so high( not the government published count, the actual real life deaths we looked at face to face every day) that people had to wait 12 hours to get their loved ones body cremated.

World has changed ever since covid. World is not a free world anymore, first and foremost, the freedom we gained as evolved humans were stolen by this tiny virus. Now it's put us on the fear for life for the rest of our lives. This evolved Omicron variant has undergone 30 mutations already. Imagine how many undiscovered versions would be killing people in a country or part of the world where medical facilities are still not that good.

I loved traveling, ever since the inception of COVID-19, I barely travelled. Even to visit my mom who's living just 303 kms away, we had to go through umpteen number of tests and procedures. Stay in que for hours etc. Life is difficult with this shitshow going on.

Thanks to the capitalists, we had the largest vaccine manufacturing facility in the world in our country. So we managed to get two doses of vaccine. We have a set of homegrown vaccines too. Imagine the condition of other poorer countries where all this are not available, people are still dying. And the Omicron and it's mutated cousins are now here to kill more people.

In a snapshot, life ahead is difficult. Especially when you live in a third world country where the society is corrupted to the core. There were hell lot of immigrant(working in another state for earning their bread) workers died of hunger during the lockdown, nobody even bothered to document the crisis they had to face. Yesterday it was immigrant workers, today it will be lower middle class the neglected and tomorrow the negligence will be bothering you. Afterall the world is run by rich, for the rich. Everyone else is just working for them. Most of the population is merely a resource. Either you have to get rich or if you're living in a democratic country, learn your civilian rights and take the control back to you. Next time you vote, vote for the right person. Your leadership should be working relentlessly towards betterment of your life. If not, don't give another chance for them to even think about ruling you. It should be you ruling your country as a citizen, because it's fuelled by your sweat and blood. Get your civic sense corrected before it's too late. Because climate crisis and viruses wait for no one.
