It is a nice cover image. It looks like a sunset to me. It's beautiful, but people might look at it and go to sleep instead of checking out your blog :)

Its a little small, can barely see the birds :P Looks kinda relaxing though as your banner pic ;)
Maybe your screen is too small? ;)
Pretty sure both my 23 and 40 inch screen are large enough, hehe :p
The cover photo is 1600px wide, does Steem upscale it at all if you stretch the window across the screen?
Don't think the post format allows it to be wider.
