Kinder Joy Chocolate Surprise Eggs... Why they are so hard to find in the USA...
My wife is European and recently she decided to introduce to our kids the Kinder Joy Surprise Eggs that she grew up with...
If you are not familiar these are the chocolate eggs that have a surprise toy in them...
To our surprise those chocolate eggs can't be found in stores in the USA... Why??? Simply because the FDA deemed those small toys inside the egg to be chocking hazard... So its OK for the kids in the rest of the worlds to enjoy these great treats but we can't enjoy them in the USA.
If you ask me the main reason they can't be brought in the country is very simply... The chocolate manufacturer here in the USA are paying top $$$ to the government to keep those eggs out of our borders...
Another classic example how corrupted our government is...
I agree 100% with you that the chocolate here in USA does taste terrible, but it is the money that talks and bullshit that walks. I'm from South Africa and we also have those Surprise Eggs from Kinder Joy. Kinder Joy is to be found in other variations here in NY, though. They have it in the form of a Hippo with that milk chocolate as it's belly...dreamy
Its all about the money and the Chocolate manufacturer here in the USA paying top dollars to keep the good quality European chocolate away.. SMH...
I lived in the panhandle of Idaho for a while and had many friends that, at one time or another, tried to bring them back across the border from Canada to no avail...they were confiscated every single time like they were smuggling drugs inside of them.
Yes, very sad... They let you have guns but won't let you have Kinder Chocolate...
I see why you may think this, but there is actually a universal ban on any candy with embedded toys which was created before the eggs even existed. I had my first one in Canada last month and YUM, I wish I could get them here too.
