My Steem Courage Post #8 - A bomb suvivor with an attitude . She is "COURAGE"

On 26 May 2002, when Malvika Iyer was just thirteen years old, she lost both her hands in a freak grenade explosion near her home in Bikaner, India and sustained severe injuries to both her legs including multiple fractures.

It was a bloodbath. But everyone was so horrified by the sight of my hands that little heed was paid to the legs. Malvika says. She was hospitalized for surgeries and treatments for two years.

Malvika took wholeheartedly to make her life normal. Even after graduating with honors from a prestigious college vestiges of doubt and self-pity remained. All this changed when during her Masters course in Sociology she was assigned to teach disabled children. She saw first-hand the courage and strength of these children that she was assigned to teach. “I ended up learning so much from them instead,” she says misty eyed.

Today Malvika is a PhD scholar and an international motivational speaker. Her phenomenal TED talk has been viewed thousands of times on Youtube.
